Be Real : A Study On 1 John

In a world full of religious activity and moral confusion, First John chapter 3 gives us a clear picture of what a genuine child of God actually looks like. Being a child of God is not earned through religious performance but is a reality for those who have been truly born again through faith in Jesus Christ. Three powerful truths motivate obedient living: the Father loves us, the Son redeemed us, and the Holy Spirit lives in us. A genuine believer does not practice continual, willful sin, because God's Spirit dwells within and continually points them toward who they are in Christ. Freedom is not found in focusing on sin avoidance but in fixing our eyes on Jesus and who He has made us to be. Righteousness in a Christian is most clearly seen through active, practical love for others. As First John reminds us, we know we have passed from death into life because we love one another.
